About Grants Pass & the Rogue Valley

Grants Pass is nestled in the enchanting Rogue River Valley of Southern Oregon with the Rogue River running right through the middle of town. This wild river offers world class fishing and rafting as well as other water activities. The surrounding area abounds with opportunities for hiking, sight seeing, skiing, nature observing and rock collecting. Orchards of blossoming fruit trees spread a rainbow of color throughout the valley in the springtime. Crater Lake National Park and the Oregon Caves, as well as other state, county and local parks are nearby.

The Rogue Valley has become a popular retirement location because of its excellent climate, spectacular scenery and multitude of activities for seniors to enjoy. Cultural activities include the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland and many local Musical and theater groups. The Britt Festival, which features top rated performing artists, is located in the historic gold mining town of Jacksonville. Medford boasts the Ginger Rogers Craterion Theatre, a state of the art community performing arts center. Grants Pass has its own Performing Arts Theaters: Barnstormers, Rogue Music Theatre, and Stardust Repertory Theatre. It also has a historic district featuring numerous antique stores, art galleries and restaurants. The area is also known for its crafts and local artists.

This area is located just north of the California border in a series of temperate valleys surrounded by beautiful mountains. Unlike most of the northwest, snow is rare and rainfall is not overwhelming. In fact the precipitation here is similar to central California.

Southern Oregon boasts a reasonable cost of living, rich cultural living, and access to state of the art medical facilities. Grants Pass is a great place to retire inexpensively and in comfort and we think it's among the best places to retire in Oregon. The pace of life is reasonable and the climate is mild. Traffic jams are virtually nonexistent and getting around town is easy. Many folks have already discovered why Grants Pass is the best place to retire to in Oregon. Horizon Village is located on the Western side of Grants Pass, immediately adjacent to Rogue Community College, a great place to finally take those college level classes you've been dreaming about. A few miles east of Horizon Village is the new Three Rivers Hospital and a community of clinics associated with the facility. Also close by is a state of the art YMCA that offers a multitude of water and regular classes designed for seniors .
